My Platform

One of the most pressing issues Stafford schools are facing is our inability to attract well seasoned educators to include paras, bus drivers and support staff.  Also Stafford schools seems to lack an inability to retain our best teachers to counties to the North and South of us.  Each year we see over 100 vacancies for teachers when we start off our school year with long term subs or we pull from Guidance and other departments to fill these vacancies.  This is unsustainable and hinders the learning outcomes of our students.

We need to decrease classroom sizes for our students and our teachers.  Particularly in the elementary schools when students are learning the fundamentals. This ties into our loss of quality teachers, because the more teachers we lose the larger classrooms become.

We have to have smart redistricting that focuses on the quality of education for our students and not the whims of the school board. 

We need to create a better relationship with the Board of Supervisors so that they understand our funding request and understand why it is so important to fully fund our schools.  We need to make sure that our fellow residents understand and advocate on behalf of our students to the BOS.  But we also need to make sure the budget we are approving makes sense.

Covid  was a punch in the gut for all of us, but I believe that there are smart ways to get our children into school that is safe for our students, teachers, administrators, and support staff. It never does any good to put one group against another and my goal is to bring everyone together for the benefit of our students and our community.
